Hi all just keen to see if people are looking forward to the new release of Crysis Warhead, by the looks of things it seems they have forgotten the aliens(Hurray!) and focused on Sergeant "Psycho" Sykes in a new parallel story taking place during the events of Crysis. Psycho's secret mission will take him to the other side of the island on a ruthless pursuit of a North Korean general. Hmmmm huh.gif

So to me this looks like another money spinner for EA, however I am looking forward to the new weapons and all-new ally squad support.

Plus this is a stand alone and does not require the original Crysis to play, and with the added multi player maps looks promising.

I was just hoping for more considering that the initial plan was to make Crysis a trilogy, and that horrible storyline of the 1st Crysis, I think we deserve a good sequel so hopefully this release is a step in the right direction.

The UK release date is 19/09/08 and I will be getting a copy just to satisfy my curiosity so I will post soon with some pic's

yeah im excited about this game too. im waiting for my copy now. game looks better, they optimized the engine a little. i also hope that crytek will release a patch for the original crysis with the engine corrections improving video performance.

on the other hand, with all the new global ambient lights warhead might stress gpus again pretty hard. i hope ill get my copy tomorrow so i could post some screens

Well I hope so to, as long as your hardware is up to the job you should love Crysis, and this new release has an improved engine with a few extras.

But this is not a sequel to the story of the 1st one, more same place same time, but this time you are playing Psycho on his own little mission so hopefully they have improved the story compared to the last one which was terrible.

I felt that the aliens just spoilt the game and looked very dull and out of date graphically, it seems that this new one is just an improved version but we will see shortly.

But the multiplayer maps are supposed to be great, however there are hundreds of player made maps now that you can play the original Crysis on and quite a few mods to.

It should be a while till they bring out an actual sequel to the game where you’re supposed to go back to the island now taken over by aliens and kick some butt.

Does anybody have this game? If so, is it way better performance then the original Crysis? If it is, I will get it.

I just finished the game. Good game IMO btu it is a bit on the short side. Performance actually is a bit better.
Du3ky™
ill probably buy the first 1..seeming the second 1 is short and dull.

Well, its an expansion pack... stand alone yes but nevertheless an expansion pack, not a crysis 2, so its not going to be long. Either way, you should play the first before playing this one anyways.

Cyrsis sucked, so i will not be getting the exapansion.Yes, it with pretty to look at, but it had no gameplay for me.

To each their. Seeing as you enjoy City life you probably don't enjoy many FPS's so it doesn't surprise me that Crysis doesnt give enough gameplay for you.

Me on the other hand, Crysis was a great game, awesome graphics and fun gameplay.

i didnt get my copy yet but from what others are saying on different forums, it seems that the gameplay got a little brushed up. added more opponents, the action is more intense. this + improved visuals can give us a litte bit of fun

So it is just a 'bit' better? Hmm, if it's just a 5fps boost, then I am sort of disappointed for crytek exaggerating it. no.gif

With all honesty, I dont know "how much" better it was. I mean, I havent run Fraps or anything on it, maybe I will at some point. Either way I almost like Warhead better than I did the original crysis.

^^ what's the resolution and settings and the gpu for these screens??
BrianBH
As you can see, resolution was 1680x1050.
Settings were on Mainstream (equivalent of Medium)
GPU was a 8800GT 512MB
2x4
not bad at all for medium settings

I probably will get Crysis war head coz they says its good a better engine and stuff.so YEa. should be good.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

I have Vista x64 Ultimate and I could not install in on my computer. After a ton of research I found out that Crytek was not releasing the x64 bit patch at a later date. Am I hearing that people are playing Crysis on a 64-bit Vista OS?

Also, anyone know anything about Logitech products being usable with Crysis? I've heard both sides.
Az1zam
You should be able to install Crysis Warhead on a x64 bit OS. Isn't Crysis optimized for the x64 bit system?

I physically bought it and could not play it. As I said above, I did some research and found out the 64-bit patch wasn't coming out until later.

That's my take on it at least.

i installed the game with no problem (vista 64bit as well) but im having different problems with the game.

first of all mouse cursor does move all over the screen just bottoer right corner when i click it selected field in different part of screen is activated. i was somehow able to go around it by alt+tabbing everytime i start the game.

another issue is the resolution changes. when going from full to windowed mod, the window itself is centered but only top left corner of original (1920x1200) screen is displayed. another annoying thing that is fixed by closing the game, editing game config file and reopening again in different resolution.

hope this is just a bug that will be fixed with the first patch.

the good thing is that the new nvidia drivers (178.13) give a very nice performance jump.

Works just fine for me. I have Vista 64bit and I havent had any problems.

I got the game over steam, so far absolutely brilliant.

Do you know if EA will make another version after Warhead, I really hope they do? ? ? ? ?
BrianBH
Crysis will have a squeal type thing. This is hinted at the end of the original Crysis (going back for Prophet)
I got Crysis Warhead and installed on my x64 Vista Ultimate just fine.
I finished it in 3 hours tongue.gif

Yeah I got to admit that warhead was easy to complete, but as I said it seems like just a money maker for EA/Crytek, the actual follow up going back for Prophet better deliver, after all warhead seemed like it was an improved version of the original, which is what they were supposed to deliver in the 1st place.

The idea was to make 3 episodes if you were, and I reckon that it will be at least 1-2 years before we see the 2nd release so I am glad that they have improved things with warhead, it was the least they could do after the 1st Crysis.
Du3ky™
im trying it out.......looks mad after those screens
